Whitney Family Scholarship:

Mr. Kenneth Whitney, Trustee of The First Tee, has generously chosen to support The Scholars Program to assist deserving youth and their families with the financial burden of attending college. Eight deserving participants will be selected by The First Tee Home Office in Florida to receive the 2015 Whitney Family Scholarships over a period of four years. Three Scholars will receive $5,000 per year for four years ($20,000 total) and five Scholars will receive $1,000 per year for four years ($4,000 total).

The Lew Rudin/The First Tee Scholarship to New York University:

The Lew Rudin/The First Tee Scholarship to New York University was named in honor of Trustee Emeritus Lewis Rudin, a native New Yorker and graduate of New York University. Since 2003, eight deserving students have been awarded the tuition scholarship based on their academic success and relationship with The First Tee. Leung Family and Friends Scholarship:

Kelly & Patricia Leung, TFTMNY graduates, along with their family and friends created a scholarship fund in support of participants of The First Tee of Metropolitan New York. This specific scholarship is designed to supplement college related expenses such as books, computer supplies, paper, notebooks, pens, and pencils for recent graduates of our program starting their first year of college. Next application for this opportunity will be released in the summer of 2016.

RBS Achievers of the Year Award:

The RBS Achievers of the Year Awards are given to participants who have overcome challenges in their lives while upholding The First Tee Nine Core Values. A committee identifies a group of semifinalists from Chapter nominations then RBS selects one male and one female winner, who each receive a $15,000 scholarship. The remaining semifinalists each receive $4,000 scholarships to be used for ongoing education. The next application for this opportunity will be released in the summer of 2016.

The First Tee Outstanding Participant Award:

The First Tee Outstanding Participant Award is supported by Corporate Founding Partner-Shell Oil. This unique award recognizes exemplary achievement by a young person currently involved in The First Tee program in the areas of academic achievement, community service, Chapter involvement, leadership, essay responses and letters of recommendation. The winner receives a $20,000 scholarship and two runner-ups receive $10,000 scholarships. This opportunity is offered every other year. Next application will be released in Fall of 2016 for the 2017 contest.

  • Active Membership with the First Tee of Metropolitan New York
  • Accepted and Enrolled Full-Time in a golf-related bachelor degree program at SUNY Delhi; Business and Professional Golf Management, Golf & Turfs Management
  • Complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and New York State Tuition Assistance Program (TAP) Application (New York State Residents Only)
  • Must maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.3 or above within a golf-related bachelor degree program

application procedure

  • Complete a Scholarship Application on the SUNY Delhi website (www.delhi.edu/scholarships)
  • Letter of Recommendation from a First Tee of Metropolitan New York Senior Administrator
  • Submit an essay (300 word or less) that answers: “Why have you selected this industry as your field of study, and what are your goals upon completion of your academic program?”


Scholarships will be considered on an “as available basis” until the maximum amount of scholarships have been awarded and accepted.

the scholar athlete fund

The Scholar Athlete Fund Supports academically gifted students from the underprivileged areas who have leveraged athletics to build valuable leadership and interpersonal skills. We offer both a financial scholarship, as well as ongoing mentorship and access to a huge network of professionals to help our scholar athletes fulfill their personal and professional goals.
