Year-Round Opportunities

  • Winter – Individualized tutoring, golf skills workshops at Chelsea Piers

Our Participants

Enrollment is targeted toward hard-working students (6th grade and up), from low-income backgrounds, with the intention of breaking the cycle of poverty.

  • In the spring of 2016, we served 15 students.

  • We expect to serve 20 students in the fall.

  • Our model is designed for growth, with an expected increase of 10 students per year, up to 50 students in total, within the next 5 years.

  • We fully expect a high percentage of our participants to gain acceptance to top high schools and colleges in the area.

This program uses an innovative model of students teaching students.

  • Outstanding high school students from the community to act as mentors and tutors for our middle school participants, thus making it cool to be smart.

  • These near-peer mentors offer guidance and support that touch the lives of our middle school participants in ways that adults could never reach.

  • High school students receive the added advantage of making a difference in the lives of others as they gain real teaching experience in a professional environment.
